Can you actually learn how to play guitar from a video and instructional book?

Or is it better to pay for guitar lessons? Or both? I just bought a guitar and really want to learn.

If you start out by teaching yourself with videos and books, you’ll learn some useful stuff like where some notes are and how to play a few chords. What will also almost definitely happen is that your technique will be garbage while you learn, and that can take a long time to fix as old habits die hard. Get some lessons from a good teacher before you do anything, then you can go on to learn from other materials afterward.

good guitar lessons ?

plz tell me what is the best guitar lessons on video/dvd out there for beginner /intermediate levels and wich concern guitar playing techniques and NOT music theory (scales, chords ,….) and thx

The best DVD lessons available are Jamorama and Learn and Master Guitar hands down. However, they have there limitations. I would also check out a review site like http://www.lessons-for-guitar-online.com which also have updated online guitar lessons where the possibilities are unlimited.

Where can I find best Hindi Guitar Songs with Video Lessons?

I would like to play Indian songs on guitar. What is the best site which list best hindi guitar songs with video lessons to learn these songs.

If you are a beginner the best would be to get a teacher who could get you started with few songs. There are various sites where you can find the chords like indianguitartabs, guitargaga, rhythemraga etc… You can find the videos at youtube but there is only one I know where the chords and video lessons are available together.

best guitar lessons on youtube or elsewhere on the internet?

does anyone know the best video lessons to use on youtube or anywhere else on the internet? I can play guitar sort of well and would just like to get my skills and knowledge up to par. can anyone help me because there are really allot of videos and teachers to pick from.

Youtube is ok for learning songs but you might have a hard time thinking of other things you’ll need to learn. Like the major scales, minor scales, modes, theory, ear training, and so on. You’ll want to get a guitar teacher, because a good one can help you better than a youtube video.

And I would know because I am a guitar teacher.

id like to learn to play it and i cant find any videos that show the main riff. (i know how to play this) and the solo’s in it. if you could include tab or just say the tab for it?

Let me tell you, there’s guy in youtube that does lessons, let me find him. That’s how I learned "Under the Bridge" by Red Hot Chili Peppers.

But I doubt you need a video to teach you that song. It’s really easy. I mean, EXTREMELY easy.
