Before you start in playing songs... why not spend some time learning THE BASICS.? There is a lot more to playing a guitar than trying to play songs that are beyond your abilities.. you need the basics FIRST.

I highly recommend a guitar book called Fretboard Logic by Bill Edwards when you decide to purchase a good Guitar book, this book helped me out a ton.

Order "Guitar for Dummies" from your local library. It's one of those yellos "Dummies" books that really stand out among the rest! It looks rather simple, even at my age, and you can probably renew it several times before returning it!
