Do online guitar lessons work?

Hi. I would like to learn to play guitar, but the lessons at my local music store is $70 a week. Has anyone ever learn how to play guitar well online or from a book. If you know any good books or good free site could you tell me some?

This site has free online lessons for absolute beginners and assume you know nothing or close to nothing. There’s video based lessons on chords, scales, techniques and some easy songs to play.

    70$ a week? did you miss hear and he said 17? thats out ragous. anyways, yes the do work. thats how i learned a lot. there free and you can learn a lot. tell me if you ever need help making/learning a song. i post vids of that kind of stuff on youtube

    Hey,
    I am 15 and feb of 08′ i picked up a guitar.I also wanted to take lessons but heck, even 20 bucks a week was too much for me :)
    So, I just got a learners book.
    In shortness,
    if you want to play just chords (acoustic)
    then all you really need are the notes on the fret board ( Just ones with no flat or sharp signals) (E,F,G,C,D,B,A,G,E,F,D,B,C,A,F,G,E)

    sorry if it complicated. …then you can start easing into chords they’re pretty simple after a while.
    so in the long run, you might just want to by a three in one book.
