Learning How to Play the Guitar – You Have to Choose Which Way is Best for You

I am sure many people received guitars for a Christmas present. While it is a great present, you still have to learn how to play it. There are a few different ways you can learn. You just have to choose which way is best for you.

One way you can learn how to play the guitar is by ear. Now not everybody is going to be able to do this. Some people are just born with a natural ability to equate pitch and tone from a song and play it on the guitar. Most of us are not this lucky.

Another way is to hire a private instructor. This is not a bad way to learn at all. The only downside to this method is that you are going to spend a lot of money and you are going to be taught using your instructors methods. If you instructor leaves or moves, you will have to find someone else and it will be a little different.

Private lessons can also be intimidating. The fact that you will have someone standing over you while your trying to learn can be intimidating. You get your lesson and go home to practice, but the week winds up being kind of crazy.

If you don’t get the amount of practice time in you will have to go back to the instructor not very well prepared. Not only are you going to pay for the next lesson, but you will wind up going over the same thing you did last week. Also instructors do tend to get annoyed with students that are not prepared for their lesson.

The third way is to use an online program. The benefits of these are that you only pay once, you get to learn at your own pace and you can always go back and review the lessons as many times as you want.

There are videos that show you exactly what to do that you can watch and practice as often as you want. They also usually come with cd’s you can play along with. The best part is you do not have anyone standing over you critiquing your ability. You will know when you are ready to move on to the next lesson. You do not need an instructor for that.

No matter which path you choose, the guitar is a great instrument to learn how to play. It will give you years of enjoyment if you learn to play it well.

I want to learn to play guitar, and I wanna know wether I should choose electric or acoustic?
And can you tell me why? Sorry, but i really want to know what will be easier. Learning guitar is not easy, and i’ve heard that the kind of guitar you chooses helps a lot.

Electric is easier to play but requires a amp
Acoustic is a little harder to play
I would choose based upon the music that I wanted to play, not which one is harder
The differences between the 2, in term of which is harder can be over came in just a short period of time

I would go for an electric guitar. I have a Fender Squire. They are a really good guitar.

    I play the guitar

Learn on an acoustic; if you are serious about playing, it will tighten your chops and if you ever want to play an electric, it will be much easier for you.

They’re both about the same in terms of ‘easiness’. So pick the one you like better because you’ll be more morivated.
