Has anyone learned to play guitar with no lessons and just watching online videos like lessons on youtube ?

If so how good are you ?
I really cant afford proffesional lessons, plus i’m a girl so i’d just show myself up (i think guys play better)
but i mean i love music and its something i really want to be able to learn !
I’ve tryed before but its sooo hard i want to give it another try though, i think im just stupid.

I do believe guitar is actually really difficult but you could definitely play it if you are determined enough.
there are great websites and youtube videos that teach you, that’s the way I’m learning too.
watch other people on youtube and watch what they’re doing.
learn the songs you like
have fun! :)

    Yeah, I learned since I was about 9 or 10 just from experimenting and playing around with the guitar. I learned how to read tablature only a few months ago but I had already learned a few songs from ear. YouTube is good. I only needed a book with a bunch of chords in it!!

    However, my dad is making me take professional lessons. I really don’t learn anything or practice the lesson, but he’s teaching me how to play "under the bridge"

    I’ve taught my self for the past four years. I haven’t even watched a video on youtube. It’s really not a gender thing. What I do is I find songs I like and look up the tabs which are like a sheet of music but shows you which frets to play. It’s really hard to learn in the beginning and there are times that you just want to smash (plus that just sounds really fun=]). You really just have to give it time. It took me about 2 or 3 months to even be able to play a full song. If you have enough determination you should be fine.

    Don’t sell yourself short, Gender has nothing to do with it.
    Online lessons are great, you just have to pay attention. The best way to learn if you can’t afford lessons is to get yourself the guitar of your choice and find a buddy who plays at least decent and have them show you a few things. Then, just use all your spare time practicing and playing along with your favorite music.

    Yup! My Brother is learning by watching online videos and he’s getting better, he also gets his tabs from the internet. Nah, you’re not stupid, it takes some time just be patient girls rock out as well so don’t put yourself down and make us girls proud of ya!

    "Just" watching videos on you tube won’t make you learn to play the guitar, but if you bring your guitar, try to play with it and feel it while watching videos, there’s no way you can’t learn anything from it. For the least, it will familiarize your ears to the guitar tunes you hear while watching, and learning to play at some time will be more easy.
