Bass guitar or electric guitar?

Hi, I have just started taking lessons of acoustic guitar last month. I got inspired to do this by listening to heavy metal. In the future I want to play in a band. I’m 14 years old. In september my parents promised me they are gonna buy me an electric guitar and amp. Now I’m wondering…What type of electric guitar should I buy? Bass or solo electric guitar? I like both options very much. Which one worths learning and playing more? Sorry for my bad English, this is not my main language…

Well I think you should get both eventually but for right now get a normal electric guitar. If you know how to play guitar you pretty much know bass but knowing how to play bass isn’t really as helpful in playing normal guitar.

Do both! You can be a multi-instrumentalist and surely one of your talents will always be needed.

well, an electric guitar is more exciting to learn, for definite, but the basic theory is the same.
Bear in mind though, that there are lots of guitarists out there but not as many bassists… so if you want to get into a band it would be useful to learn bass as well
