How do you stay motivated to keep learning to play the guitar?

I don’t have a teacher and it’s really hard when I can’t have my questions answered when I come to a speed bump. I’ve been practicing for about 2 months and I’ve had like no progress besides knowing the guitar in general.

    Select a mentor whose playing style and ability is one you greatly admire. Then visit your music store and see what they have to offer.

    I’ve never really had a teacher to guide me in learning the guitar. A couple here and there but, it was not the style I wanted to play. I taught myself by ear. Listen to the music you wish to learn and play, find the root chords of the song and go from there. That’s pretty much what I’ve always done.

    Finds some simple three chord songs and strum along through the whole song. When you find that you are able to find the chords of different songs your confidence will go up and you need to play more will become very strong. Just be sure that the tuning you are in is the same as the song. Stay positive and you will get positive results. Hope this helps.

    ok so what i do when i need motivation, is youtube ‘easy guitar songs’ or ‘cool guitar licks’ or something along those lines, and i usually always get inspired by someone. watch this vid – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ShY50pxA_W4

    For me I like to listen to guitar music that I really like (but that isn’t extremely hard). I listen to blues guys like Albert King and B B King and then try to play along with them or learn some of their songs. Also you could try to learn an easy solo like Black Magic Woman (the Santana version) because it sounds great and isn’t actually that hard to play! This is geared towards electric guitar btw. Also if you learn the pentatonic/blues scale then you can jam with any rock/blues/pop band so that’s a good one to learn because you can have real fun with it quite quickly! Good luck anyway!
